I did a tribute comics about Islaw Palitaw one of the many comic strip characters Larry Alacala made. I did it together with Parekoys Comics, my own comic strip that’s serialized in the Manila Bulletin every Sunday.
Larry Alcala is now a national artist for visual arts in the Philippines. Mang Lary has been creating comics and slice of life illustrations for many years that has been part of the Filipino culture. Samahang Kartunista ng Pilipinas is an organization that he co-founded. I am a member of SKP. Last 2018, we created a tribute exhibit together with the Ang INK (Illustrador ng Kabataan) in UP.
